Bed reservation allows the CoC to have a central repository where all available beds and units can be easily viewed and assigned to households looking for Emergency Shelter or Transitional Housing. This means that the path to assistance is more streamlined for households because they don't have to call multiple agencies looking for shelter, and beds and units do not remain unoccupied because there is a set process for assigning households to available units and beds.
In HMIS, the bed reservation functionality is currently being utilized for Emergency Shelters or Transitional Housing projects. To understand the flow of the bed reservation process, please review the Bed Reservation Flowchart. In addition, the articles below provide step-by-step instructions on completing the tasks outlined in the flowchart.
